Meeting Derby’s version of the A-team, ‘Allies’

13 May

Hi Guys

I know I have been off the radar for the past couple of weeks but I now have a moment to sit in front of my Mac and write a posting and have a catch-up. I am still involved with the ‘RatCatcher’ film and god I can’t wait for production to commence on this.

I really intend to write about an event I went to in Derby this evening; the Derby Film Fest. A director I heard about and met in January has made a trailer for a feature film called ‘Allies’. The film  is based on the Second World War French Resistance and now I and many people were treated to a viewing of the trailer and a Q& A session beforehand. Which actors star in the film I hear you ask, answer

Dominic Burns- the director and creator of ‘Allies’

Julian Ovenden, known for appearing in Foyle’s War, Downton Abbey and much more (unfortunately Julian could not attend)

Chris Reilly, known for Doctors, Homefront, Game of Thrones etc

Matt Wills as many of you will say McFly now McBusted

Edmund Kingsley, appearing in Hugo, Endevour, The Borgias etc

Leon Vickers, appearing in Doctor Who, Up there, Garrow’s Law

Emmanuelle Bouaziz, starring in many French films

The session began with a the cast and director being introduced with a wave a applause before the Q&A, and it was very interesting the answers the actors and director gave about the film, how they got involved in the industry of TV and Film. Soon the floor was opened to everyone for Questions and we were treated to the screening of ‘Allies’ the trailer (I had the honour of Chris Reilly sitting next to me during the viewing and talking to everyone afterwards, except Matt, had to dash, but was great to get a photo with him and everyone else. What a great night! I appreciated the actors stopping and talking to everyone at the very end of the event and sharing more of their experiences and advice on the industry itself.

From the photos you can probably tell that it was a great night. The trailer was amazing and I cannot wait for it to be in the cinemas soon, unfortunately I cannot say as I do not know myself. It was also great that I got a phone call from a production company that I am working with to go into the office tomorrow hoping it will be good news and a lot of it. At some point I am hoping to go to London to the Bond in Motion Exhibition. More to follow.
