Charity football

Hi Mediadreamzers

Glad I have the weekend to sit and type with going back and forth to MK, though for the next two weekends I am working and then the challenge I have been training for will be upon me; R4L. Though this weekend was certainly busy in Nottingham; There was a charity football event on a Meadow Lane ground which had been organised by a known artist. I will give you a clue- His first song was called Lightning Bolt, his music has featured in the film ‘The Fault in your Star’ and he has performed on the Jay Leno show. Answer is Jake Bugg. This was in aid of the British Heart Foundation, and the name for the event ‘Football Rocks’, something I believe the majority of the male population will agree with.

It was great that the weather held up for the day and that there were other local celebrities that attend, one being Vicky McClure who is in well known in programmes like Line of Duty, This is England, Broadchurch and a few more.

Normally I am not one to immediately watch football, but I always make sure I watch charity matches both local and well known, specifically soccer aid (can’t wait for the next one). I always wondered why do days that when your having fun the day goes by so fast. The more events like this the better and I am looking forward for other events her, there and all over the UK.

Into the role of a ‘RatCatcher’

24 Apr

Hi everyone of my fellow mediadreamz readers and welcome everyone who stumbles onto my blog.

I am back in the office at LightFilms and on such a nice warm day too. It was great that the whole gang was here today; Chrissa and Tom Wadlow, Chris Newman, Charlotte Clifford and of course me. The tasks began with searching for locations filming at whilst being visited by the cat Sock (such a sweet cat). Later about 7-8 actors turned up and went off with Tom and Chris to go through their fight scenes to an undisclosed location which sounded really exciting. All I can say is that I have nevr seen so many perfect locations and areas around the East Midlands. I have to ask why no-one is using them in TV and Film programmes they have a great deal of potential, those established in the industry should come and visit us up in the Midlands and see what else there is.

So from what I found it was a case of contacting the various parties and organisations about using these locations to film at, which lead to lots of emails being exchanged and links being shared. Speaking of sharing could you please checkout the page for ‘RatCatcher’

Please share, comment, or be part of something amazing

Also there is the Facebook page where there is lots of articles to read and share too.

Please check back for more info on the progression of hte filming in pre-production. I cannot wait to get into the field and scout out these locations in person. Cameras at the ready.

First day in the office

14 Apr

Hi my Mediadreamz readers, followers and those who find me

Today marks my first day in the office working with the production company LightFilms on an new and upcoming feature film, and it was even better with the sun shining too.  I guess the next question that springs to mind is who are LightFilms, answer- they are professional filmmakers who work on corporate, feature and wedding productions in the East Midlands. There latest project, ‘RatCatcher’ is a film that follows the story of three brothers who take a hunting trip in the woods in a remote snow covered area. Arriving for a long weekend away, they discover that they are not alone in the woods… For a more depth idea think of the films Rambo, Deerhunter and the Bourne films to give you a better idea. The film is being brought to life by the director Tom Wadlow and producer Chrissa Wadlow and guys they are brilliant. Other feature productions they have made are Shelf Stackers, Wasteland, The Apartment, and many more which you can check out on their website http://www.lightfilms.co.uk. The films LightFilms make have the honour and delight of going to Cannes, thats right you read correctly, Cannes Film Festival that place where the great actors and actresses attend every year, so the film will be heading in that direction.

The main tasks of the day were finding locations ready for filming a longer version of ‘RatCatcher’, so I set to work contacting properties and country parks about potentially using their locations for the film and getting all necessary information in prep. At one point I was on the verge of speaking to a Lord about his property, but my call was diverted to a member of staff. So far positive responses, all the locations I found as many of them have said let us know when you are free and call us back and we will take you round the areas we think will be excellent.

I cannot forget to mention also that ‘RatCatcher’ would not be happening without the role that the projects contributors have played, who want to be part of this incredible journey from beginning, middle and end. Being part of this awesome production has its perks; making a contribution gives you the chance to select from the list, this can be anything from having a big shout out, film screening ticket, DVDs or even getting your name on the credits with a snazzy title. Sound like something you want to be part of too?  Then check out the films indiegogo page

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/rat-catcher-feature-film

One of my to do list activities tomorrow is to call a producer friend of mine about doing a news piece on ‘RatCatcher’ as it is also to create at least 20 jobs and getting others involved from start to end, so that will keep me busy with that too.

So I think the next thing will be going to the locations with camera and all and getting shots of the different areas for filming, I’m so excited.

I look forward to the next day I am in the office or as I mention going off to locations for filming.

Two weeks Work

28 Aug

Hi all that follow my blog, and those that stumble upon it

I have spent these last two weeks going back and forth to a production office, helping work on a programme as a locations assistant/ office runner. I cannot tell you the name of the programme only that it is shown on C4, sorry for being vague but official secrets act and all.

I have been covering for the current runner whilst she was away on holiday and met her this week (which was my final week) and she is both very nice and very tanned from where she has been on her hols. The rest of the production team were brilliant, they all made me feel very welcome and part of the team itself. My production manager was a real gem looking after me and offering me the two weeks slot that needed covering.

I decided on my last day to take in a hand made thank you card, and as we ended up talking about cake one day I decided to take one in; Black Forest Gateau, and as an added treat different types of sprinkles so everyone could jazz up their slices and make them look pretty.

One thing I nearly forgot to mention is that I have recently been taken on and completed my registration links with different extras agencies I figured that whilst production crew is and would be quiet in the near future to keep busy and gain experience as an extra. I also through an dare/ out of my mind experience contacted a modeling agency who invited me for a ‘GO-SEE’ appointment and after 20 minutes to a days discussion said to me there and then that they wanted to offer me representation for a year. Whether it was flattery or not they said to me that I would be ideal for modeling and appearing in feature films and commercials so after weighing up the options I have decided to sign with them as it is another avenue for gaining work, experience and even work experience.

Once the bank holiday is out of the way and I have completed everything I need to do my upcoming plans and work can be put in motion. I hope my posts do not sound self-centred, or very big headed in anyway if they do please feel free to say and I will change my style of writing, or rather typing.

Have a happy bank holiday if you are in the UK, if not have a great to all who read.

The Good, the Bad and the unexpected News

19 Mar

Hi everyone

I know I have been away for a few days, but it is with good reason. For the past couple of days I have been inundated with calls all week about potential opportunities. One of which was from a company in Skipton, and although it is a company that mainly focuses on theatre and a little TV the lady I spoke to said she was mightily impressed with my CV, and if a suitable position arises in the future then she or the company will give me a call.

Following that, (on the same day) I got a call from EndemolUK about helping with an episode for a well-known show that they were filming in my area and would I be free. Thankfully, I had the day off work and leapt at the opportunity and despite the weather I had a great time working with the production team, and spoke to a very nice man who drives celebrities round as he works for Jaguar.

The bad was on Monday when I had agreed to meet a director of a company in Nottingham who I was to meet to to discuss the film project and after spending 20 minutes driving around trying to find the place I gave up as I wasn’t gonna waste an afternoon on a wild goose chase ( no offence to gooses). Despite this setback and sending an email of apology, this was masked by the surprise email I got. A few weeks ago I applied for a job and passed the application questions, this was followed by online assessment and I was wondering if I would hear from the company. And low and behold I did and the news was good; you have successfully passed the verbal reasoning test. Now I await till April to see what happens next as to when and whether I am invited to an assessment centre to have an interview and everything else.

One thing I am looking forward to next month is heading back to Pinewood Studios, to the networking night that was cancelled in January, and hopefully there will be natural disasters no hurricanes, earthquakes or tornadoes. It will be great going back to one of the best film studios that the UK has ever had, and will be great seeing all of my contacts/ friends too.

Whilst I wait it will seeing what opportunities I can apply for until next month and other activities. So my darlings stay tuned and hopefully I won’t leave it too late to report on whats going on.
