Hi Mediadreamzers

In the space of two days I have only had a total of 5 hours sleep, but god it was worth it for the opportunities and fun I have had. Two sort of followed day one as I got back from the James Bond Dinner and Music night at 2.15am Monday morning, before getting the train to the capital and arriving at my hotel where I spent the next hour and half getting ready for, wait for it, The London Premiere of ‘Spectre’, at the Royal Albert Hall. That’s right I had had the honor and privilege of walking down the red carpet.

Before that a group of us met up at my hotel, funny how many of us were staying there, and we had a drink or two before jumping into a people carrier to the Hall. Whilst we were heading down that way Mike was preping us on what will happen the second we step out of the carrier, talking about how we all knew one another, the James Bond dinner some of us had gone to, everyone got into the swing of saying ‘I can’t believe….’ XYZ about James Bond, London, then I decided to add to the mix ‘I can’t believe there’s a great big Sainsburys over there’. And the carrier erupted with laughter at the random comment before we all got out and headed up the cornered off area for V.I.Ps and guests. It was torture standing around in my sandals and then we got to step onto the red carpet and it was awesome. I saw a lot of famous faces and I my friend Damian pointed Adele out to me but I didn’t get the chance to take a picture of her as security and staff were steering us all in.

Once inside and we made our way to our seats, something I owe my friend to a thank you for; he got us the BEST seats in the Royal Albert Hall at the very very back at the top. Once the Duke, Duchess and Harry had done their meet and greet, Sam Mendes and Barbara Broccoli came onto the stage and began introducing the actors and the lights dimmed down, and it began.

The film was out of this world and I was still finding it hard to believe that I was seating in the Royal Albert Hall watching it on the big screen. We were going to go to the after party but because the venue was full to burst a group of us decided to have our own after party and in style, in a casino. And I can share you my Mediadreamzers darlings that in the early hours of this morning (00.24am and 01.23am) I was enjoying two Vesper Martinis. So in a way I was having a pre breakfast, whilst I got chatting to some Americans who had come over to see the film and other film enthusiasts. We were in the casino till 2.30am and after being dropped off by Mike and Pip, two amazing people, at my hotel at 3am I was too wide awake to go to sleep so I stayed up reading comments about my photos I had posted on Facebook about the night. I will not be forgetting this night for a very longtime and the best thing is I get to keep my ticket and holder that it came in, and I am certainly going to frame these and keep them for the rest of my life. So the next question I need to ask is, after the nights events does this make me a Bond Girl?

It was such a shame that I had to leave London, it was a brilliant two days just gone, I look forward to my next event/ media related activity. Hopefully back soon. One thing I did laugh at during the nights footloose and fancy free moments was my JB nicknames being used.

Adrift in the Midlands

5 Nov

Hi Mediadreamzers

I have been all over the place this week and boy do I love it. I am working on three films at present; one called ‘Adrift in Soho’, which is on the IMDB website, feel free to check it out, and 2 in Derby with LightFilms; ‘RatCatcher’ and a film that has now been christened with a new name that many of you may remember was called ‘Meat’.

In between this I attend a lecture today delivered by a very good friend of mine; Terry Bamber, who always knows how to entertain and capture the attention of an audition.

Yesterday and Monday and until 20th Nov I am a camera assistant on ‘Adrift in Soho’, and I must say it is one of a few films to date where I have been focusing on one area of production and moved up the ladder of important roles. I have been working a mixture of 10-14 hours and although it is exhausting it is so worth it; learning skills about the camera, clapping and recording information on the scenes being shot and learning how to fill in continuity camera forms. One thing I am enjoying is learning new skills one of which is filling in continuity reports for the shots captured on camera using the clapper board notes for cameras used. Different but I think I got the hang of it, I am looking forward to the next few days doing more work.

In between that I am getting audition dates ready for ‘Meat’ and getting a few things in motion for ‘RatCatcher’ for next year. I have for the past couple of weeks emailing actors who fit the bill and inviting them to an audition and formulating ideas for other things to do. I am learning on the job for a general assistant/ Line Producer and gosh its fun.

I decided to have a day off and what better way to send it is going to a lecture in the East Midlands to attend the opening of the new Media School. Apart form being directed to the wrong building at first I managed to get to the Bede Island Building and the lecture was enjoyable from start to finish. It was good to have a catch up with Terry and also see his friend who was helping with the day, Paul Sacks. After the lecture I and a group of students who attended headed to the media school to see the new facilities, and then this was followed by a drink and chat at Trinity house which was not only refurbished but full of food and drink. I got to meet a lot of interesting people and it was good to catch up with my Terry and Paul and hopefully next year I will see them both and have lots more media work.

For now I am going to relax and catch up on some me time after long days of filming, more to follow.

The Poster

The Poster

Well I have certainly been doing a lot of that over the past couple of days and in between that went for an interview to a very special place in my heart; pinewood Studios for an interview for a role on a film. Here is a clue 007. Unfortunately I did not get the role I had been put forward for but at least it is a step further than last time when I applied for a production role on ‘Skyfall’. My motto ‘Never Surrender, Never Retreat’ applies here and for everything else I have been unsuccessful with, but still it is nice to visit the place I like to call my second home.

Despite the unsuccessful outcome, I am having a blast working with a production company in Derby called LightFilms on a really cool (Well I think it is) trailer for an upcoming feature to be shot in 2015. I have completed a lot of tasks so far and have managed to get results at the end of them.

The advice I will give those starting out in the industry is have contingencies places encase something unexpected happens or falls through. The work has entailed researching places that meet the necessary requirements of the director and SFX team for filming, sourcing props suitable for the characters and the background, liaising and hunting down costumes and accessories for the characters, getting call sheets finalised, calling lots and lots and LOTS of people (the phone doesn’t stop ringing, which is good).

In my case it was running around from four regions to get everything done before the day ended; finalising a location in one area, calling and collecting an essential prop from another, calling another person in another area and finally getting a prop personalised.

All of this work I have found has also caused me to have moments I consider fluxes, especially when finding props as half the things the production team will need I would assume were so far away, like down in London or Manchester but no by chance I found everything on the doorstep, more convenient I say.

I pressed on and although I had to deal with an evasive obstacle, I overcame it and got the outcome that I wanted, and everything else afterwards fell into place. Although there was nearly another a solution was found and all was right with the world, and this was near the end of the day.

I only wish that was going to be on set at the weekend for filming of the trailer, but alas I won’t be free, but I am hoping that I have done a good job with the call sheet and getting all info out the to cast and crew and hopefully will see the trailer in a few weeks after it has been shot. To date I am loving every single minute of my time I am spending with lightFilms. More info to follow shortly or at a later time, who know.

What a Gem Stone

26 Aug

Well, mediadreamz readers

It is a week where I am not standing still, despite the weather being that of winter did not stop me from heading to my interview destination with GemsTV. In all honesty I had forgotten about the job vacancy I had applied for as it has been a lifetime ago that I applied for the role of junior producer. I made it to the studio well before my interview time and met my interviewer, Ben. After being given a tour of the studio and seeing the various studios broadcasting live, as well as the being show a very fine collection of gemstones and rocks that would the studios version of a museum one stone was so big and striking it was over 900 carats (try putting that on a ring). After the tour, the interview began and from what I remember it was four questions and it lasted, well it felt like it lasted 15mins one thing I noted was I asked more questions than I have ever asked in any interview, which is a first for me.

Now all I need do now is wait to see if I hear anything. Until then I am busy with other media work and I am still enjoying it and I am hoping to be taking a trip in October to the lovely place in Iver Heath (I won’t say anymore, not till nearer the time when things are in motion).

So I will sign off this post with the usual last line, Nunquam Deditioneum Never Surrender, Never Retreat

Production Progress

18 Aug

Hi guys

It was been a little quiet on my side having a day or two of boring days after filming the baton twirling event (will add another picture shortly), but for now I am involved in another production.

photo to end all shoots on Baton Twirling

The production is with a local company is working on a thriller film cannot say too much because things are still in motion, but I am loving the plot so far and I am immensely surprised by the fact that I have been given a role of huge responsibility- Line Producer. Never worked in this role, but I am gonna give it my all (hopefully I won’t mess up but if I do I will go down all guns blazing, but it won’t happen). So far I have had 2 meetings, location scouting, looking into hiring vehicles including a bus, booking venue(s) for auditions and all matters that require release forms.

The other film ‘RatCatcher’ that was scheduled for filming this year will commence in January and I am hoping to be involved with this film again too. So it appears things are going o.k at present and at the weekend I am working as a camera assistant on the Cosmopolitan Carnival so busy busy busy. Interested in knowing more then check out

Plus a really cool event in October that I am really, REALLY looking forward to

I am immensely surprised by the fact that on 15th Aug I had 175 views- so I want to say thank you guys for looking and reading my blog, means a lot x

Still use my motto Never Surrender, Never Retreat
